About the Artist

Coreen Steinbach

“As a runner myself, I am continually inspired artistically by this sport. The physical beauty of color and movement, the emotional beauty of effort and achievement — these are the emotions I strive to convey in my paintings to all who love our sport.”

Coreen Steinbach

Award-winning artist Coreen Steinbach works in a fresh, colorful, impressionistic style from her studio near Syracuse, New York. Her paintings can be found in collections around the world.

Using primarily acrylics on canvas, Coreen cultivates a wide range of content, characterized by broad brush strokes and captivating colors. Best known for her sports artwork, Coreen’s pieces often capture the emotional intensity or joy of the human endeavor, but much of her work invokes the serenity of natural beauty in a still life, the delicate magic of a simple moment, or the depth of human character in a portrait.

Steinbach always works from a deep sense of inspiration, even while much of her work is derived from commissions, including family and corporate portraiture, architectural renderings, and interior and exterior murals.

An avid runner, Coreen is drawn to the beauty of movement and the vibrant colors, energy and emotion displayed at competitive events. Racing inspired her to begin painting runners in the early 1990s and she never looked back. Focusing on sports-related art helped Coreen distinguish herself early on in her career.

Much of Coreen’s work is created on commission. She is energized by her clients and thrives on the positive feedback she receives about the finished work. “It’s what keeps me going,” she says, “when I deliver a painting to someone, and their reaction shows how much they truly love it.” Even better, her paintings become family treasures, passed down to the next generation. “It’s so rewarding. It’s what I can do for someone – my contribution.”

Coreen illustrated a children’s book, My Dad is an Ironman, published by Breakaway Books. In addition, she has designed artwork for several major races including The Utica Boilermaker, The Pittsburgh Great Race, The Buffalo Marathon, The Freihofer’s Run for Women and the North American Lightning Class Championships.

Racing at the National and World Levels, Coreen competes for the Philadelphia-based Athena Track Club and has won numerous medals and championships at the world and national level.
